A message that we would never have liked to write
Given the severity of the health crisis that has created this extraordinary situation the competent authorities from the Canton of Geneva have refused to provide us authorization to organise our event. Thus, it is with great sadness that our Organising Committee has to announce the cancellation of the La Tour Geneva Triathlon of July, 11th & 12th.
The postponement that we studied is unfortunately no longer possible, as the uncertainties are too great and the priority lies somewhere else: health for all.
2020 should have been a memorable year for the La Tour Geneva Triathlon. In coordination with our partners, our Title Partner Hôpital de La Tour and the different City and Canton of Geneva services and administrations, we have been working hard for a year with passion and enthusiasm to surprise the whole Triathlon family and produce an edition full of innovation: new routes, new epicentre at the new Eaux Vives beach, introduction of the Youth League (in partnership with Swiss Triathlon) and the return of the Run & Bike.
We were so happy to share with you this special year for our beautiful triathlon but today health is more important.
The costs incurred by the Organising Committee for the event organisation are important. Nevertheless, the team - that worked tirelessly for a year with passion and energy - will spare no effort, and bear a significant financial loss, to keep organising a beautiful triathlon celebration in 2021. We will communicate the conditions of this cancellation to the participants after closing our accounts and exchanging with all our partners and suppliers.
In spite of the current situations, like the athletes that we are, we must keep our heads high and we must not give up, for them. Difficult roads often lead to beautiful destinations, and we hope to have you with us along the way. There is hope behind every crisis and we strongly believe that sport unites us all and helps us overcome the difficulties.
We would like to stand together with all of you to come back stronger after this crisis. We would also like to remind you that in this period, in order to stop the spread of the virus, respecting the guidelines provided by the Federal and State Council is a responsibility we all must take on.
We thank all our participants, volunteers, partners, suppliers and all the communities and administrations for their support, their fidelity and their understanding during this troubled period.
